Counter Intelligence presents the next installment of left field drum & bass in the form of the label’s second album, available separately as four vinyl singles and collected in different editions with bonus items like digital downloads and even a limited edition handmade Counter Intelligence headphone bag, that's also used by several of our artists.

Entitled Coupe D’état, the title captures the meaning and intention covered by the music and artists involved in this display of the versatile sound that Counter Intelligence has come to be known for since the inception in late 2004. The label’s back catalog already comprises timeless music by Resound, Paradox, Macc, Beta 2, Alpha Omega, Pieter K, Martsman, Dissident, Equinox and Fracture & Neptune amongst others.

E1 – Alpha Omega – Tomorrow Never Comes (A Cat’s Eye EZ Listening Mix)
(Time: 07:34 - Key: 7A / Dm - Tempo: 172 bpm)

Drum & Bass heavyweight Alpha Omega is back from his previous outing on the label, the evil ’10 Faces Of Death’.
You won’t have heard this track ever before, because it was specially written for Counter Intelligence, containing material from three unsigned never released top tunes from the man that we just could not choose between.
Stepping in with a rolling break, layers and layers of synthesizer sounds wash over you, beating you with acid lines.
This tune keeps evolving and is really a treat to mix with any kind of drum & bass, at any time of the night.

E2 – Bop & Despot – Microfunk
(Time: 06:12 - Key: 2A / Ebm - Tempo: 170 bpm)

Flip the record over for a slice of futuristic drum & bass, if you ever heard one! 31st century business from St. Petersburg based Russian wunderkind and Hospital/Med School protégé Bop and fellow city mates Despot.
‘Microfunk’ has industrious clicks, pops, whirrs, edits and washes of synthesizer feedback all combining to form a surreal aural painting of a futuristic cityscape set against a stark electric white background of storm lined clouds.

In our humble opinion this is one of the standout tracks ever on Counter Intelligence, which is high praise indeed!

LP Side Six.

F1 – Martsman – Antifunk (Titanium’s Industrial Dub)
(Time: 05:40 - Key: 7B / Fmaj - Tempo: 172 bpm)

Berlin-based Martsman’s ‘Antifunk’ came out on CI007, ample weeks before his breakthrough tracks on Med School and Offshore. Many a DJ’s favorite, label friend Titanium now expertly remixes it into a dubstep inspired dance floor smasher. Keeping many of the original’s elements intact that gave ‘Antifunk’ it’s distinct feel in a mix, Titanium blends it with his own production aesthetics: a clean mix, subs to kill for, heck even some humor for the 2nd drop!

F2 – Macc – Session N
(Time: 06:08 - Key: 11A / F#m - Tempo: 174 bpm)

Next up we have our own drumming’ rudebwoy Macc providing the goods on ‘Session N’, one of the last tracks he finished before his professional mastering business took off. We are glad to have it!

This particular session starts out with ambient noise swirls, a muted drum track and a warbling rumbling bass.
That all ends quite suddenly, giving way to a mad drum workout layered on top of a heavy sub and the extra warbling bass.
Further ambient noise swirls that remind us of soundtrack legend Lalo Schifrin add to the trip that is ‘Session N’.
